◆ Patty pan squash is a variant of Cucurbita pepo from the Cucurbitaceae family. It comes in bush-type or vining stem forms, with palmately shallowly to deeply lobed foliage and large yellow blooms. The fruit is a flattened round pepo featuring raised scalloped saucer edges and pale yellow skin, resembling a flying saucer. Young fruits with a diameter of 6–8 cm are ready for harvest and consumption, whereas fully mature fruits can be preserved for 3–5 months as ornamental decorations. This crop is light-loving and thrives under warm conditions, with an optimum growing temperature range of 13–28℃. It adapts well to both open-field planting and protected cropping.
