- U2674 Fragrant Wrinkled-Leaf Kale is our selected seed line featuring heavily textured blue-green foliage and a strong semi-upright growth habit. The elongated leaves develop deeply blistered, quilted surfaces with prominent pale-green midribs, creating an attractive architectural appearance in gardens and containers. Plants are grown primarily for repeated harvests of young leaves. Under suitable seasonal conditions, the first mature harvest is typically ready approximately 100 days after sowing, while smaller outer leaves may be picked earlier once plants are well established.
- Young leaves have a tender, crisp texture with a mild, gently sweet kale flavor. They are suitable for sautéing, steaming, soups, noodles, baked dishes, and other cooked preparations. The deeply textured foliage also adds ornamental interest to vegetable beds, mixed borders, patios, and balcony containers. This cool-season kale performs best at approximately 32–77°F. Provide full sun during cool weather or light afternoon shade in warmer conditions. Growth rate, leaf size, color, texture, and harvest timing may vary with temperature, sunlight, fertility, moisture, and planting season.
