When fully bloomed, the flowers look like strings of upside-down sparrows. The flowering period lasts from April to May, and the blossoms emit a slightly sour fetid odor. Its fruit is a woody pod roughly 30 centimeters long with wrinkled skin, enclosing flat, round dark brown seeds.
