◆ Cosmos bipinnatus 'Cupcakes White' is a distinctive horticultural cultivar of cosmos. An annual herbaceous flowering plant, it reaches 80–100 cm in height, with an upright form and vigorous growth. It produces solitary flower heads 3–6 cm in diameter; the ray florets are fused into a unique cup or bowl shape, with white petals and slightly ruffled edges. Its novel flower form gives it exceptional ornamental value. It thrives in full sun and is heat-tolerant, as well as tolerant to saline-alkali soils and drought, but is sensitive to waterlogging. The optimal growing temperature is 20–30°C. It takes approximately 60 days from sowing to flowering, with a long blooming period. Suitable for garden landscaping, container planting and large-scale ornamental planting, it also makes an excellent cut flower.
