967 Bridge Over a Troubled River Tomato, 5 Seeds

Description

- 967 Bridge Over a Troubled River is a spectacular midseason Russian selection producing richly colored, flattened beefsteak tomatoes. The moderately compact indeterminate plants reach approximately 4.9 feet, making them more manageable than many full-sized indeterminate varieties while still providing continued production. Fruits typically weigh approximately 7.1–8.8 oz, with larger specimens possible under favorable growing conditions. Their smooth, flattened bodies mature from glowing red and raspberry to deep burgundy, while sun-exposed shoulders develop dense blue-purple, violet, or nearly ink-black coloration. Irregular red and purple streaks extend downward across the fruit, creating a dramatic illuminated appearance.
- Inside, the fruits reveal juicy scarlet to deep raspberry flesh with a glossy cut surface. Their concentrated flavor combines pronounced sweetness, refreshing acidity, rich tomato aroma, and lingering fruity-spiced notes. Train plants to two or three main stems and provide secure staking or caging. The fruits are excellent for fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, tasting platters, tomato juice, richly colored sauces, and specialty culinary presentations. As a relatively modern selection associated with an accidental segregation or cross-pollination event, some variation in base color, striping, shoulder coverage, fruit shape, or size may still occur.
