◆ Acmella oleracea is an annual ornamental and medicinal herb belonging to the genus Spilanthes within the Asteraceae family. It grows to a height of approximately 30-40 cm, featuring erect or ascending stems that are highly branched. The leaves are opposite, ovate or elliptical, 3-5 cm long, with wavy, bluntly toothed margins. Flowering occurs primarily from July to October. The capitula (flower heads) are solitary or arranged in panicles. They exhibit a unique morphology, being ovoid to spherical initially and gradually elongating into an oblong shape later in development. The florets are yellow, composed exclusively of dense tubular bisexual florets. Acmella oleracea thrives in warm, humid, and sunny environments; it is intolerant of drought and cold. The plant has specific soil requirements, preferring loose, fertile, and moist loam, while being intolerant of heavy clay soils. It is commonly found naturally occurring in habitats such as field margins, damp areas beside streams, and forest edges at altitudes ranging from 800 to 1900 meters.
