◆ 837 Gold Sun Selection Tomato is one of several open-pollinated selections developed from the famous Japanese hybrid Sungold F1, widely known as one of the best-flavored cherry tomatoes. This line is reported to have been started by an Austrian tomato grower, then shared with Manfred Hahm in Germany and later with Reinhard Kraft, where further selection produced a larger-fruited form. Plants have normal dark green foliage and reach about 6.5 ft tall. Maturity is mid-season, about 65-70 days from fertilization to harvest. Each truss can carry up to 10 tomatoes, with fruits usually about 1.2-1.6 in wide and weighing up to 1.1 oz. Flesh is soft and juicy, with thin, tender skin that resists cracking. Flavor is aromatic, fruity, and very sweet.
