1125 Mrs. Houseworth Tomato, 5 Seeds

Variety characteristics:

• 1125 Mrs. Houseworth is a prized American heirloom tomato dating to the 1930s and traditionally associated with Mrs. Houseworth of Pennsylvania. The midseason, indeterminate plants produce large pink to deep pink-red oxheart tomatoes weighing approximately 8.8–14.1 oz. Fruits are typically 3.9–4.7 inches long, with an elegant elongated-heart shape that tapers to a narrow, pointed end. The exceptionally dense, meaty interior contains only a few small seed cavities and remarkably few seeds, providing thick, substantial slices with very little gel. Its excellent old-fashioned flavor and rich, satisfying texture make it a highly versatile kitchen tomato. Regular-leaf vines reach approximately 5.9 feet and require secure staking, caging, or trellising for the heavy fruit. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, roasting, stuffing, canning, sauces, paste, and thick tomato purée. Because individual fruits may contain very few seeds, allow several fully mature fruits to ripen for seed saving.
